Two Ballet Guild students to perform in the Moravian College annual dance concert

Two Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley students (and Youth America Grand Prix scholarship competitors) will be dancing in this production at Moravian College’s Foy Hall this coming weekend. Also, one of the Moravian Dance Company’s student choreographers is an alumna of the Ballet Guild. We are very proud of these hard-working, dedicated young ladies! This three-act ballet, with timeless music by Sergei Prokofiev, is choreographed by Artistic Director, Karen Kroninger Knerr, and features Pennsylvania Youth Ballet dancers, as well as guest artists and adult community volunteers. This romantic tale contains some comedic tones – in particular, the roles of the ugly stepsisters traditionally played by men – and is sure to enchant the audience with its beautiful dancing, glorious costumes, and haunting music. In the ballet, Cinderella’s traditional “glass slipper” is actually a pointe shoe!  A party – Cinderella’s Ball – will be held following the performance at Zoellner Arts Center. Classes (& Burklyn Audition) cancelled Friday, March 20, 2015

Because of the winter weather (yet again!), classes are cancelled for today, Friday, March 20th. Also, cancelled is the audition for the Burklyn Ballet Theatre summer program.

Three students recently participated in the prestigious dance scholarship competition – Youth America Grand Prix

Three BGLV/PYB students recently competed in the regional semi-finals of the Youth America Grand Prix, held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are Natalie Hedrick, who placed in the top 24 – Senior Classical; Abigail Bleicher Healey, who placed in the top 12 – Junior Contemporary and in the top 24 – Junior Classical; and Olivia Lovell who danced in the Pre-Competitive level. The students also attended workshops and master classes with dance professionals. Each student spent many hours rehearsing in addition to attending 4 to 5 classes per week at the Ballet Guild studios.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is a non-profit educational organization with a mission to support and develop world-class dancers ages 9 to 19 of all ethnic, economic, and geographic backgrounds by providing scholarship auditions and educational and performance opportunities. YAGP is a global network of dance, connecting students, teachers, schools, dancers, dance companies, and audiences worldwide.

The Burklyn Ballet Theatre will be holding auditions for its summer dance program at Ballet Guild studios, 556 Main St., Bethlehem, PA 18018

Friday, March 20, 2015. 7:00 pm. Registration begins at 6:30 pm. Audition Fee: $30 cash only

The audition class will be one and one half to two hours in length for advanced intermediate ballet students.  Dancers on pointe should be prepared to do some pointe work. Click below for information sheet.
